On Sunday, February 10, our chapter hosted the first ZTA Ladies Luncheon fundraiser to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. It was a wonderful event that brought the ladies of our chapter and ZTA alumnae together for an afternoon lunch. The room was beautifully decorated with elegantly set tables.
In addition to a delicious chicken lunch, we had the honor of hosting two guest speakers, Tami Boehmer and Joules Evans. Both women survived breast cancer and successfully published their own books. After sharing their truly powerful, entertaining, and unique stories, Tami and Joules generously offered to donate a portion of their book sales in February to our philanthropy!
Finally, to end the afternoon, we raffled off 36 gift baskets and gift cards. All together, we had a very successful fundraiser for our philanthropy.

On January 28, the ZTA Iota Pi chapter welcomed 53 beautiful women into our sisterhood! We choose these women to join our chapter because they have sparkling personalities, ambitious attitudes, and believe in the values of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. They chose ZTA because they found another place they can call home. These ladies are the future of ZTA and we are so excited to see what they will do for our chapter.
To kick-off the new member pledge period, we had a 90’s themed Bid Day and Bid Night Dinner. On Bid Day, the new members received “New Bids on the Block” T-shirts and were welcomed at the ZTA house by all the current members. Later that week, we had a 90’s themed Bid Night Dinner celebration. Everyone brought out their jean jackets, bright colored windbreakers, fanny packs, and jammed to the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and Blink182. Bid Night Dinner was a fun way for the new members and current members to get to know each other. We had a blast!

Welcome to Zeta Tau Alpha, ladies! We crowned you for a reason!
Life is more fun with a sister’s helping hand and lots of color!
With the end of an eventful fall semester, the ladies of our chapter trickled out of Dayton for a well-deserved winter break. After catching up on some much-needed rest, relaxation, and family time, many of our UD Zetas stayed busy with service trips, vacations, and accomplishments. Check out what our ZTA ladies have been up to over winter break!
Our Future Doctors:
Abbie Amrine, Lauren Parr, and Abby Carr joined about 40 other UD students on a Medical and Dental Brigade in Panama. In three days, they provided over 300 patients with doctor consultations, dental work, medications, and lessons on how to stay healthy.

Our Big-City Traveler:
Colleen Kresse traveled to Yonkers, New York to visit her family for her grandfather’s birthday. With New York City only a short train ride away, Colleen toured major sights of the city including museums, Times Square, SOHO and Greenwich Village. Of course she snapped a Zeta picture in Time Square!

Our Marathoner:
Sarah Ahler finished the Walt Disney World Marathon! She ran with the Distance for Dreams team, which is a group that raises money to sponsor a local child with a life threatening disease to go to the Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, FL through A Special Wish Foundation. Congratulations Sarah!

Our Football Fans:
During the college football bowl season, a few of our ZTA sisters made their way to the Sugar Bowl and the Orange Bowl to cheer on their teams!

Our Snow Bunnies:
Several of our ZTA sisters trekked off to the mountains to ski and snowboard this winter break!

Our Ambitious Intern:
Through her PR internship with Sunshine, Sachs and Associates, Tara Katcher worked at the 70th Annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles, California. She is nearly famous!

We can’t wait to see what other experiences, opportunities, and accomplishments await us in 2013! Happy New Year to all!
The ladies of our chapter ended a wonderful semester with a ton of fun-filled holiday activities!
On December 2nd, our very own Karly Bukovec led a yoga session at that University of Dayton’s RecPlex for all our Zeta ladies. We were able to unwind and relax before the last week of classes. Thanks to Olivia Quam and Karly for running this event! Namaste.
On December 3rd, we hosted a service event with Zeta alumni at our house. With some hot coco, cookies, and good company, we decorated holiday cards to send to the Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health. We hope that our holiday cards will bring emotional comfort and joy to some very sick children during the holiday season. A big thanks to Abbie Amrine and Mary Sanford for planning this event!
On December 4th, we had “Secret Santa” gift exchange. With thoughtful holiday gifts, we were able to show appreciation for our sisterhood. We gathered at the house around 9:00pm to eat cookies, exchange gifts, and announce the semester’s superlatives:
Social Butterfly: Sarah Pierz
Inseparable Sisters: Chelsea Princell and Morgan Moone
Best Senior: Sarah Pierz
Best Junior: Megan Lawrence and Bridget Sprosty
Best Sophomore: Bridget Corrigan
Best Family: The Stefanie Hirota and Mary Tonner Family
Thank you Cassie Anderson for planning the “Secret Santa.” It was a hit!
Finally, on December 7th, we participated in University of Dayton’s Christmas on Campus. This is a UD tradition that dates back to 1964, in which students celebrate Christmas with children of the greater Dayton community. The entire campus sparkles with holiday cheer on this day! Our chapter hosted a beanbag toss game, “Gingerbread Corn-hole,” and handed out nearly 400 candy cane prizes!

On the weekend of November 9th, Iota Pi hosted their “Mom’s Weekend.” Girls and their moms enjoyed a Jean Party at the house, as well as shopping through a representative from Stella & Dot. A cake decorating class also took place at the house, which many girls and their mothers attended and had a wonderful time. Check out pictures below from this fun weekend! Thanks to all the mothers who came! And a BIG thanks to Tara Katchur for planning and putting on this event! :)

Iota Pi hosted their 16th annual FREEFAHL concert on Saturday, October 13th. This concert is our main philanthropic event of the fall semester and its title stands for: “Forever Reminding and Educating Every Female About Healthy Living. This event was nothing short of success and we were able to donate over $7,300 to the foundation. We had an excellent turn out this year and tremendous support from our families and student body. Some of the things that made FREEFAHL different and unique from the previous years was a dunk tank, cotton candy machine, Chick-fil-a sandwiches, and representatives from Vineyard Vines, Studio Blue Hair Salon, and Bad Frog Frozen Yogurt. We also had three bands, Archer’s Paradox, OneSecond, and our headliner, Mike Droho and the Compass Rose. Other highlights from this event include a heartfelt speech from a breast cancer survivor, as well as a balloon ceremony remembering all those that have passed and celebrating all those that have survived. The event was a huge success and we definitely accomplished our goal of spreading breast cancer education and awareness.

Think Pink Bengals Game
On Sunday, October 7, 2012, 10 ladies from the Iota Pi chapter went to Cincinnati Bengal’s football game for the annual Think Pink game for breast cancer education and awareness. 11 NFL games were holding think pink that games so it was a great way to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month. The ladies of Iota Pi, Beta Delta, and Eta Pi along with Dayton and Cincinnati ZTA Alum passed out 40,000 ribbons to fans attending the game. It was a great experience to see all the pink throughout the stadium and know that the Zeta Tau Alpha’s are really making a difference.
